On Monday - Congress introduced legislation that would prescribe cage sizes for egg-laying hens - codifying an agreement the egg industry and Humane Society of the United States reached. The agreement includes HSUS foregoing attempts to pass state ballot initiatives dictating egg production practices and ending 10 years of litigation against the egg industry if egg producers double the size of their cages for laying hens.
