Obsolete

Boy, you can't say they didn't hang in there.

Encyclopedia Britannica was first published in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1768.  Today they announced that they will switch from print to digital.

If you'd like the last edition, you can purchase it for $1400!

We never had encyclopedias at my house.  Kids today have a hard time envisioning having to go to the library or to a friend's house to do your homework.

I got to wondering about another product that's been with us forever.  Richard was "springing forward" on his wristwatch this morning.  I haven't worn a watch in a really long time since the time is readily available on my cell phone.  I was curious if watch sales have dropped with the popularity of cell phones.

The answer is "yes".  And how.  One reports says that Seiko sales have dropped 45% in the past 2 years...because of cell phones!

I don't imagine they'll become totally obsolete.  For men, it's their big jewelry statement. I kind of like having a wrist free for bracelets, though.

Googling, texting, emailing, getting the weather and the time....I use my cell phone for everything except making phone calls.
