I wish I could personally thank every person who is running in, walking in, or donating to The Susan G. Komen RACE FOR THE CURE. It's coming up Sunday, May 15 in downtown Kalamazoo. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I appreciate their efforts to kick cancer to the curb.
Don't forget that tomorrow (Saturday May 14th) is the national Letter Carriers Food Drive. This morning, Anne Lipsey, executive director of Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes told us that our goal is to gather 150,000 pounds of food. She said that in the "good old days" that would last a month. Today it will last about 2 weeks.
All you have to do is bag up your non-perishable food and set it by your mailbox. Our mail-people will be gathering it all day. Since the effort started, ONE BILLION POUNDS of food has been collected nationwide.
