Coach's Corner

Posted by Lori Moore on

I know you thought you were listening 1660 THE FAN this morning, but that was ME! There was so much happy news from WMU today that we rounded up all the coaches.

Jeff Blashill, nominated for CCHA hockey coach of the year joined us to talk about the exciting win in overtime last night at Lawson.  The team is headed to "The Joe" for the first time since 1994 to take on U of M Friday.  Tickets are available through the Bronco ticket office.  It would help to have a huge crowd on hand.

Steve Hawkins is also hoping for a big crowd Wednesday night at University Arena when The Broncos play host to Tennessee Tech in the first round of the CIT Tournament.  Again, tickets are available through the Bronco ticket office.

And football coach Bill Cubit joined us, too.  He's on the program tonight at University Arena for the Greg Jennings Celebration at 6:00.  Greg, of course, was a Bronco before he was a Packer.  No tickets needed!  Just come!

Western president, John Dunn was happy about all the sports excitement but he was also pleased to report that all 13 of the WMU students who are studying in Japan are safe and sound.  The university has also been working with the Japanese students on campus who may have relatives affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

Tomorrow morning: How you can help on 590/96.5 WKZO.
