Occasionally I'll look at produce to see where the grapes or the asparagus originate, but as I rule I never really paid attention.

Whatever you do...WHATEVER. YOU. DO......do NOT buy pine nuts from China. I made a delectable pasta dish this weekend that included them and am ruing the day.  Over the past several days I've experienced an increasingly intense metallic taste in my mouth.  It tastes like I have a mouthful of rusty metal shavings and food tastes like poison.  I thought I had a brain tumor or something so I Googled it.

When you type in "metallic bitter taste" it's not some disease that comes up, but PINE NUTS.  This even has a name: PINE MOUTH SYNDROME!!!!! Thousands of people all over the world have experienced this after eating pine nuts from China. They are much smaller than the nuts that come from Italy.

There is no treatment for it and it can last up to 2 weeks!  Please....NO!!!! How can they sell these?  Hello, FDA?
