Ape for Apps

Posted by Lori Moore on

Since I'm new to this whole DROID thing, it's been an education learning about all the magic it can do.

Last week, with the new driving and texting law going into effect, we heard from a number of listeners who suggested apps to help keep you "hands free" while driving. There is an app for hearing your texts and an app for transcribing your voice into text.

Over the weekend I saw a fascinating item in the "Click and Clack" column for parents who want to prevent their kids from using their cell phones while driving. There are a number of apps that use the phone's GPS to determine when the phone is moving faster than walking speed and it will shut down all or some aspects of the phone.

The names are: TXTBlocker, ZoomSafter, CellSafety, and iZup.

What will they think of next?
