Mildness in the early morning is yet another sign of winter’s demise. Mid-forties were common around the area early this morning and readings above freezing before sunrise will be common during the next seven days.
The best chance for rain showers today remains to our west over Illinois and Wisconsin closer to a center of low pressure which isn’t in a hurry to move. Forecasters say our best odds at getting wet come Thursday evening though spotty showers stay in the outlook through Sunday.
Those who don’t make it to ANR Week activities or that meeting on peach production today are likely more than ready to get out and have a look around to see how field conditions are shaping up and how things came through the winter.
We all deal with the end of the season of cold and snow in our own way. Tuesday I saw one young man on in-line skates attempting a game of street hockey as piles of winter snow vanished behind him. Down the street a couple of youngsters were taking out their aggression by waling away on a melting pile of snow with sticks and boards. After being cooped up all winter and intimidated by slick roads I think we can see where they’re coming from.
