Most voters are OK with President Obama's stand on gay marriage but they're pretty skeptical about the reason for the "evolution," the latest New York Times/CBS poll finds. Some 67%—including a majority of independents and almost half of Democrats—believe Obama made the announcement "mostly for political reasons," while only 24% believe he came out in favor of gay marriage "mostly because he thinks it is right." Echoing an earlierGallup poll, the new poll found that some 60% of voters say the announcement won't affect how they vote.
Three thoughts
I would figure that independents might question the President on this, but 50 % of Democrats is a bit shocking
Only 24 % of the Democrats believed he did this because he thinks this is right? These voters are Presidents wheel house voters, wouldn't you think this would be much higher?
With 60% of voters saying this won't affect their vote, only 24% of Democrats believe the President did this because he thought it was right, will this entire issue backfire on President Obama?
