Heath care Debate-Wrecking Operation or Salvage Job?

Posted by Jay Morris on

Day three in the Obamacare debate asked if the individual mandate is struck down, what should happen to the law.

According to the Wall Street Journal:  Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the court's senior liberal, said that if the justices must choose between "a wrecking operation and a salvage job, a more conservative approach would be a salvage job."

The challengers' lawyer, Paul Clement, said that if the mandate falls, the entire law must scrapped. Without the mandate, he said, the law would be a "hollowed-out shell."

I really have no idea how these judges will rule, but the fact that it went to that line of questioning is very interesting.

What do you think should happen if they do strike down the mandate?
