Yesterday New Jersey Governor Chris Christie did something that most politician today would not do, he said no.. again. According to several media reports several big money republican backers continued to heavily suggest to Christie that the party needed him to run. Barbara Bush even called and talked with Christie's wife when she had questions about raising teens in under the spotlight of the White House.
During a press conference yesterday Christie said "Now is not my time," then when on to say New Jersey, whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me,".
This is the right decision on a couple levels. This decision sets him up for the next presidential political cycle without having to be knocked around in during this cycle. He can build his “election story” in New Jersey for a couple more years.
Now for me the most important reason this decision is correct is that I believe when you are elected to a political office, you should continue until the end of your tour of duty. He was elected by residents of New Jersey, and he plans to fulfill that duty. Many politicians today would not have that dedication, but they should.
