Those who listen to the show, know that I LOVE classic TV...in fact, some of my favorite boob tube memories are from the so-called "rural comedies" that CBS featured in the 60s..."Andy Griffith Show"..."Beverly Hillbillies"..."Petticoat Junction"...and "Green Acres"...three of those four featured a gentle man who pretty much made a career out of being one of the few residents with common sense...good ol' Sam Drucker, played by Frank Cady, who passed away on Friday at the age of 96...as Mr. Drucker, owner of "Drucker's General Store", Cady provided a straight foil for the likes of Eddie Albert, Edgar Buchanan, Irene Ryan...and a host of Hootervillians...
Cady was the first actor to play a recurring character on three shows running at the same time, and was one of three actors to appear during the entire run of "Petticoat Junction"...despite numerous other fine acting performances, it was Mr. Drucker who brought him the most attention and fame...and he loved it...RIP Mr. Cady...and thanks for the memories!
