KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO) – For the second time this season, multiple Broncos have been named MAC Players Of The Week, as Jordan White and Johnnie Simon were both awarded for their efforts on Saturday during the Broncos 45-35 victory over Ball State.
White, named offensive player for the 4th time in 2011, finished with 9 receptions for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns, as he passed Jamarko Simmons as the Broncos all-time leader in receptions. The 6th year senior now has 95 receptions and 1164 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season. With his performance on Saturday, White now has over 1000 yards in 3 seasons, tying the Broncos record shared with Greg Jennings and Steve Neal. Saturday was also White’s 17th 100-yard receiving game, also tied with Greg Jennings for the career record.
Johnnie Simon was awarded the Defensive Player Of The week, after leading the Broncos defensively with 10 tackles, and also had an interception, his 2nd on the season. Simon has now registered three straight games with 10 or more tackles and has five total 10 tackle games in 2011. Simon's award is the first MAC West Defensive POTW of the season for Western Michigan.
White and Kicker John Potter were the first set of Broncos to win the MAC POTW award in the same week, during week 3 against Central Michigan.
