fKALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO) – After throwing for over 3300 yards and 30 touchdowns, Western Michigan Quarterback Alex Carder is getting some recognition for his accomplishments.
Carder along with 31 other quarterbacks will look to join 2010 award winner Cam Newton and other previous winners Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, Matt Ryan, JeMarcus Russell, Vince Young, and inaugural winner Matt Leinart.
The award is in honor of the collegiant accomplishments of Archie, Peyton, and Elli Manning. The Allstate Sugar Bowl created the award in 2005.
Carder is one of two quarterbacks from the MAC on the preseason list and one of 13 juniors.
