It was nice to see 5th grader Raegan Bos in the studio this morning.  Always nice to expose kids to the glamorous world of RADIO! Blondes have more fun!

Had a lovely afternoon at Miller Auditorium for the WMUsic Showcase Spectacular. My bursting into tears moment came when The University Concert Band played "Shenandoah". Has a more beautiful melody ever been written?

I was also beside myself over The Brass and Percussion Ensemble's "Olympic Fanfare Medley".

Oh, the whole thing was awesome.  Thanks WMU music department!

Thanks to everyone who attended the ACLU's Banned Book Readout at The Kalamazoo Public Library last night.  Library Director, Ann Rorbaugh welcomed the crowd who came to celebrate the freedom to read.

Join Richard Piet, me and other community members who will celebrate freedom of speech tonight at The Kalamazoo Public Library's Van Deusen Room @ 7:00.  We'll be reading from challenged books from 2011.  Richard and I will present "My Sister's Keeper".

Next year, I call "50 Shades of Grey".  If I have to wrestle Lorraine Caron for it, so be it!

  • Raised Lots of Dough

Good times at Bell's yesterday.  A spirited mob of Sarkozy Bakery fans were on hand for a fundraising bash where $14,399.10 was raised.  AWESOME!

  • Family Fun Day @ BELL'S

Did you know that Larry Bell was Judy Sarkozy's first full-time employee?

What goes around comes around and Larry is hosting a "RAISING DOUGH" event for Judy Sunday from 12-4.

The Red Sea Pedestrians and The Out of Favor Boys will provide the music.  There will be lots of fun activities going on and I'll be the auctioneer of a lot of great packages.

Tickets are $15.  Bring your checkbooks.  Let's get Sarkozy's Bakery back in downtown Kalamazoo.

  • Ode to Andy

A collective "Waaaaaaaaaaaah" rang across Kalamazoo when CBS News announced the passing of singer, Andy Williams.

The 84 year old singer had been battling cancer for a number of years.

I grew up watching his variety show (mainly to see Donny Osmond).  His Christmas specials with his pretty, French, talentless wife Claudine Longet are seared in my memory. And his songs, from the melancholy "Moon River" to the rousing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" are the fabric of our lives.

    Thanks, Andy.

So she can raise dough for you!  Judy Sarkozy's beloved bakery burned down this past winter and Kalamazoo is in WITHDRAWAL!

There's a fun benefit coming up at Bell's on Sunday that we'll tell you about Thursday morning at 7:50.

I'll be the auctioneer.  Mark your calendar.

  • Sorry, Ladies

A wave of nostalgia swept through the WKZO audience this morning when I mentioned that when my husband and I were dating, on Sunday afternoon he would flip me a $20 to go get a whole new wardrobe at Gantos Bargain Boutique so I wouldn't see his behavior during the Lions games.

It seems that I'm not the only one who misses that FABULOUS store.  WAAAAAAAAAH!
