  • AVENUE Q: School Edition

    Posted by Lori Moore

When I heard that Portage Northern was doing "Avenue Q" (the dirty puppet musical), I couldn't believe it.  Then I learned that there is a revamped "school" edition.

I saw it last Sunday and absolutely LOVED it.  It is funny, charming, touching and unbelievably well performed and directed.

Kudos to director, Laurel Scheidt...music director, Kellee Haselton...choreographer, Kathryn Williams and everyone involved in the production.  What a talented group of students!

They have another 3 performances this weekend and there shouldn't be an empty seat in The Lori Moore-a-torium.  Get your tickets right away before the people who saw it last weekend scoop them up so they can see it again!

  • A Night at the Opera

    Posted by Lori Moore

"Brava" to Susan Anthony and the students of the WMU MUSIC DEPARTMENT, who put on an entertaining Opera Workshop, "The 7 Deadly Sins" last night at Dalton Center Recital Hall.

Standouts included Renee Macdonald as Countess Almaviva in "Quante buffoneria!" from Marriage of Figaro and Korbin Mulder, Blake Morgan and Jared Wall who managed some fancy footwork in The Mikado.

The students are fortunate to have Kalamazoo's resident diva to show them the ropes.

  • A Great Honor

    Posted by Lori Moore

I feel humbled and honored to be chosen as the Kalamazoo Westside Kiwanis Club's "Citizen of the Year".  It's because of the great work of THE POTLUCK PALS and the new LORI MOORE CORPS.  The WKZO listeners make it all happen.  I'm just the ringleader.

    Thank you!

I hope to see you there!

  • Aren't You Sick of Mean?

    Posted by Lori Moore

I'm looking forward to having the elections over with aren't you?  I was very heartened by the listeners who called this morning reporting heavy voter turnout at their polling places.

We'll have all your election results on 590/96.5 tonight and tomorrow morning.

And then can we all just hug and sing Kumbaya?

I'd like to teach the world to sing

    in perfect harmony.....

  • So Over It

...the robocalls, the junk mail, the endless commercials...

But I DID enjoy a sandwich board wearing weirdo with a bullhorn on Michigan Avenue in Chicago this weekend.

Some people have accused Joe Biden of being a loose cannon with some of his remarks. Well, this explains it!  The guy we're seeing is an imposter Russian agent!

  • A Tough Negotiator

    Posted by Lori Moore

So what's with the "split shift" for the Bronco Hockey team this weekend?  They have games tonight and Sunday afternoon against Notre Dame that'll be heard on 96.5 WKZO.

Coach Andy Murray told me this morning that there's a little football game in South Bend this Saturday, hence the weird hockey schedule.  He agreed to it only if they'd hook the team up with football tickets. Fun!

    Go Broncos.

  • Doesn't This Just Say It All?

This little girl in Colorado was listening to the radio on the way to the grocery store with her mom and she just couldn't take it anymore:

    Bronco Bama & Mitt Romney...adorable.

  • WMU Presents "8"

    Posted by Lori Moore

    D. Terry Williams will be directing a staged reading of "8", a play about a court case filed by The American Foundation for Equal Rights to overturn California's Proposititon 8 which banned gay marriage.

The performances will be at the York Theatre November 2 and 3 @ 8:00.  It's a free performance, but reservations must be made by calling 387-6222.

I think you'll agree that Terry looked darling in the WKZO studio this morning when he borrowed my Halloween fascinator!
