EDWARDSBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A pilot was injured when a small crop-dusting plane crashed into a wooded area in Cass County Sunday afternoon. Police and fire crews responded to the 27000 block of Indigan Lane near Edwardsburg just after 1:30.
The pilot, 68-year-old Ralph Edward Lutes of Shipshewana, Indiana was rescued from the wreckage and taken to an Indiana hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. His condition is unknown at this time along with what caused the crash.
The plane was crop dusting a nearby potato field when it happened. The FAA is continuing to investigate the crash.
Agencies assisting included the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Edwardsburg Fire, Ontawa Township Police Department, and SMCAS Ambulance.
